Activity #10

Reading

Reading to young children benefits their brain development. With regular reading habits you can see significant improvement in their academics, speech, communication, language development and logical thinking  skills to name a few. We (my Son and I)  usually read for 20 minutes every evening after he comes back home from school and 20 minutes before bedtime.

Activity #11

Additions using Math Counting Puzzle.

Great and fun way of doing math. Helps in keeping kids engaged in math as it is more like a game.

Activity #12

Domino Activity.

Line up the dominos in 3 different rows. In the first row,  place the Dominos near by. In the second row,  place the dominos a little farther than the distance between the dominos in the first row. In the 3rd row place the them much farther as compared to the second row (see pic below).

Push one domino in the first row. The force transfers and all the dominos fall although you touched only the first one.

Then push the first domino in the second row. Not all the dominos fall.

Next,  push the first domino in the 3rd row. Nothing happens. All the dominos in this row remain intact.

It’s fun to see how the domino train moves. It’s relaxing.

You can talk about why the dominos in the first row were knocked? Why only few got knocked in the 2nd row and why not a single domino was knocked down in the 3rd row.

Other Activities:

While placing the dominos in each row, child can count the dots. Add the dots and come up with the sum.

Compare the numbers, child can be taught “greater than” and “less than” concept.

Child can be taught to identify the equal number of dots.
