This is a very easy and yummy home made bake recipe. This serves as a good school lunch recipe as well as a great after school snack for kids.
Tip: Calizones could be made before hand, like, the previous evening and packed for kids school lunch for the next day. Just heat for about 40 to 50 secs before packing it for lunch. This also serves as a great after school snack for hungry kids 🙂 They will love it!! The best part is you can fill it with the curry of your choice!!
Ingredients for the Calizone:
Active Dry Yeast: 2 tsp
Whole Wheat: 1 and ½ cup
Enriched Flour: 1 and ½ cup
Sugar: 1 ½ tsp
Make a curry of your choice. Keep the curry dry. I made aloo curry.
Ingredients for dry Aloo Curry:
Potatoes (Cooked): 2
Coriander leaves: 1/2 cup (chopped)
Sweet corn: 1 tbsp
Cheese: Grated cheese of your choice (optional)
Green chillies: 2 (chopped)
Garlic: 1pod (chopped)
Turmeric: ½ tsp
Garam Masala: ½ tsp
Oil: 2 tsp
Method Of Preparation for Curry:
Take some oil. Season with cumin, chopped green chillies, chopped garlic, turmeric and then add cooked potatoes, salt , garam masala, chopped coriander leaves, sweet corn and mix. Heat for a couple minutes and let it cool.
Method Of Preparing the Calizone:
Mix 1 cup warm water with 1 ½ tsp sugar and 2 tsp yeast. Leave for 10 mins. The yeast will increase in volume.
Next, take a bowl and put the above dry ingredients for Calizone, salt, yeast (which has now increased in volume) and oil (2 tsp). Mix it to form dough (Mix it to the consistency of chapathi dough).
Leave it closed for 3 hours. Next, roll it. Make sure it is a little bit thick. Put the above dry curry and close the dough on all sides. Cut on all the sides if necessary to form a neat rectangle. Preheat your oven to 250 degrees C. Then bake at 250 degrees C for 10 mins. Your Calizone is ready! Enjoy!
